| Climbing Everest
or getting published- which is easier? More
often than not writers will tell you the former.
You’ve poured your blood, sweat, tears,
time and energy into perfecting your masterpiece,
after tinkering with it for the past few months
you realise you’ve done all that you can
to make your poem, novel, play the best that
it can be. Now all that’s standing in
your way is a chaotic, nonsensical and inhospitable
industry that has the power to fulfill or fracture
your dreams.
Luckily for you, Jo O’Donoghue, owner
of Dublin based publishers Londubh Books, will
be giving a talk during the Athlone Literary
Festival weekend to help keep you on the right
track. An experienced publisher Jo will address
us on all aspects of publishing from the traditional
methods to the online. She will be exploring
how books are selected for publishing, who to
approach and will answer those niggling questions
that you have about an industry that seems as
arbitrary as a coin toss.
To attend Jo’s discussion please book
in early as places are limited. ‘Publishing,
Irish and International – a new chapter?’
takes place in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel on Saturday
October 8th from 10.30 – 12 noon at a
cost of only €6. To book email literaryathlone@gmail.com
or simply contact 086 2282760.
Athlone Literary Festival takes place on the
weekend of October 7th, 8th and 9th and offers
